This method involves taping injured body parts with elastic, cotton tapes. The tapes are applied to slightly taut skin, rubbing the tape to activate the heat-activated adhesive. Once the skin returns to a neutral position, folds will appear on the tape. This lifts the skin, increasing the space between the dermis and the fascia. This in turn increases lymph and blood flow and reduces blood pressure, thus accelerating the healing process. At the same time, the tape stimulates special skin receptors, which causes increased activity in the tissue and further supports the healing process. Furthermore, the tapes are used to strengthen joints and correct their position – in this case, varying degrees of skin tension are applied.
