Therefore, plant phytosterols naturally bind more quickly to cholesterol receptors in the intestines and are absorbed instead. Studies have shown that consuming phytosterols in the form of a phytosterol complex in the amount of 2 g per day can reduce total cholesterol by 6-15% and LDL (bad) cholesterol by 8-15%, already within the first three weeks of starting the treatment.
