Solgar Licorice Root Extract is a digestive aid in capsule form (60 vegetable capsules). The effect of the raw material is primarily related to the presence of triterpene saponins, including glycyrrhizic acid. The raw material also contains flavonoids, coumarin, phytosterols, betaine and choline, as well as amino acids and mineral salts. Consuming licorice supports the body in the proper metabolism of physiological processes occurring in the digestive and immune systems.
Dosage:
Recommended daily dose: Adults: one (1) to three (3) capsules daily, preferably with a meal or as directed by a physician. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose. Dietary supplement is not a substitute for a varied diet.
The preparation should not be used by people with hypertension.

- Licorice root - a plant naturally occurring in Central and Western Asia, known for its therapeutic properties for thousands of years. Historically, it was used as an expectorant, soothing agent, antitussive, and as a gentle laxative. Currently, it is traditionally used to treat stomach ulcers, asthma, malaria, insomnia, pharyngitis, and many other common infections. Licorice has strong anti-inflammatory, antiallergic, and antimicrobial properties, inhibiting the production of prostaglandins and leukotrienes, among others, responsible for the inflammatory response. This plant also contains substances such as glycyrrhizin and glycyrrhizic acid, which induce the production of interferon—a naturally occurring antiviral compound in the human body. It also has anti-inflammatory effects on the intestinal walls, providing protection, soothing relief, and inhibiting bacterial growth. It can be helpful as a supportive treatment for conditions such as stomach ulcers, hyperacidity, flatulence, and constipation.
