Lactovirina contains lactoferrin and zinc.
Lactoferrin is a protein, or more precisely: a glycoprotein from the transferrin group, which means that it regulates the concentration of iron ions in the blood plasma and transports these ions to the tissues.
As an element of the innate immune system, it is found in breast milk and other body fluids, such as tears, saliva, sweat, nasal, intestinal and vaginal secretions.
Zinc is a mineral with a broad spectrum of effects, including:
- helps in the proper functioning of the immune system,
- helps protect cells against stress oxidative,
- contributes to maintaining the proper metabolism of macronutrients
