LabHome SYPH-Check-1 Syphilis Test is a rapid, highly specific immunological test for detecting the presence of antibodies against Treponema pallidum in a fingertip blood sample. The test detects both a recent infection and persistent infection (after many years). The SYPH-Check-1 test is accurate, as confirmed by the fact that it has been used by specialists for over 15 years. Evaluation reports show an overall agreement of 97% with the reference method.
Indications:
The SYPH-Check-1® test should be performed in the presence of clinical symptoms, the main ones being ulcers and a specific rash. The test can be performed as a preventive measure in at-risk individuals, as the infection can be asymptomatic. Untreated syphilis can lead to very serious cardiovascular problems and develop into neurosyphilis. Caused by the spirochete Treponema pallidum (TP), the infection is usually transmitted sexually through sexual contact and, in rare cases, by transfusion of infected blood.
The test can be performed at any time of the day.
Usage:
The test is performed on a blood sample. To do this, obtain a drop of blood from your fingertip (automatic lancing device included), then apply the blood with diluent to the sample window. Wait 10 minutes and read the result. Determine whether urgent medical consultation is necessary.
Notes:
If the test result is positive, it means that antibodies against Treponema pallidum are present in the blood. This is an absolute indication for consultation with a doctor. This will allow for deeper diagnosis, effective therapy, and prevent the development of infection.
