The STREP A'LERT sore throat test detects Streptococcus pyogenes (group A streptococci) in a throat swab, which is responsible for over 95% of sore throat (bacterial throat and tonsil infections) and scarlet fever (scarlet fever). The rapid streptococcal test is a diagnostic method also used by doctors to quickly identify bacteria in the throat. The sore throat test is performed in the case of a sore throat, enlarged lymph nodes, or a sore throat on the tonsils accompanied by a fever. The scarlet fever test is performed when a fine-grained rash appears.
The Strep Alert test allows you to obtain laboratory-level results in real time (10 minutes) at home. A positive test result means that S. pyogenes antigens were detected in the throat swab sample and the infection is bacterial in origin – consultation with a doctor is recommended. A negative result, however, indicates a viral sore throat.

How to use:
The test is performed from a swab taken from the throat and tonsils using a cotton-tipped swab. Collection of the test material is non-invasive and painless, therefore it is also used in children. The sample collected with the swab is transferred to a tube to which extraction fluids (1 and 2) are added. After incubation, the swab can be removed. Dip the test strip into the fluid remaining in the tube. The result can be read after 10 minutes.
