Product Description
Labhome CRP-Screen Blood Test for CRP Protein Levels Diagnostics of Infections and Inflammation
Medical Device • The CRP test helps identify the underlying cause of the disease (bacterial/viral) in the event of infection symptoms such as cough, runny nose, fever, diarrhea. Determining the underlying cause of the infection influences the decision on the type of treatment, including antibiotic therapy. Antibiotics are only used to treat bacterial infections. The CRP test helps avoid antibiotic therapy when it is ineffective (viral infection) and helps detect serious bacterial infections in children – which may not produce clear symptoms. The CRP-Screen® test detects CRP protein levels in 4 ranges (from 8 to over 100 mg/L) in blood obtained from a finger prick. In children, collecting blood from the fingertip avoids the "needle trauma" of drawing blood from a vein. A small drop of blood is enough to check the CRP level. The CRP test result is obtained within 5 minutes, allowing for quick and effective treatment. A CRP level below 8 mg/L is normal for older children and adults. CRP levels below 40 mg/L most often result from a viral infection. A CRP result of 40-100 mg/L or above 100 mg/L requires urgent consultation with a doctor due to the possibility of developing a serious bacterial infection.
Indications:
Diagnosis of infections and inflammations. The CRP-Screen test can be performed in the case of:
- respiratory tract infections (cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing),
- throat infections (severe pain, swelling, difficulty swallowing, redness - may be caused by a viral infection, but also by a bacterial infection, e.g., tonsillitis),
- flu and cold symptoms (runny nose, fever, chills, headaches and muscle pain, weakness),
- detection of serious bacterial infections in children (pneumonia and bronchitis),
- diagnosis of post-operative infections after tooth extraction,
- poisoning (diarrhea, vomiting, fever, may be caused by both food poisoning and a gastrointestinal infection).
Usage:
The test is performed on blood. To do this, obtain a drop of blood from your fingertip (automatic lancing device included), then apply the blood with diluent to the sample window. Wait 10 minutes and read the result. Check whether an urgent consultation with a doctor is necessary.
Packaging:
Package contents: 1 sealed aluminum bag containing: 1 test strip, 1 plastic pipette, 1 sachet with a desiccant; 1 dropper bottle containing 3 ml of diluent; 1 sterile lancet (lancing device) for blood collection.
Notes:
The CRP-Screen test ranges (8-100mg/L) are adapted to physicians' recommendations. The test result should always be interpreted in conjunction with clinical symptoms. The decision to use antibiotic therapy or other forms of treatment is always made by a doctor – the test is only a diagnostic aid for the patient before a visit to the doctor.
The test should be stored at room temperature (4 to 30°C), in a dry place, out of the reach of children.
