Glucose 75g with Lemon Flavor is a powder for preparing an oral solution. 1 sachet contains 75 g of glucose with a lemon flavor. The preparation is intended for performing an oral glucose tolerance test – OGTT (Oral Glucose Tolerance Test; formerly: sugar curve). Also suitable for use in states of carbohydrate deficiency, exhaustion, and hypoglycemia in patients with diagnosed diabetes. The product is intended for people of all ages.
When is the Glucose 75g with Lemon Flavor test performed?
The test is performed in people with suspected type 2 diabetes. The test should be performed on an empty stomach (at least 8 hours after the last meal). The test begins with a venous blood sample to determine fasting glucose levels. Then, within 3-5 minutes, the patient drinks 75g of glucose dissolved in 200-300ml of water. After 60 (three-point test) and 120 minutes (two-point test), another venous blood sample is collected to determine blood glucose levels. The two-hour period between drinking the glucose solution and blood sampling should be spent at rest. The product is also intended for use in states of carbohydrate deficiency, exhaustion, and hypoglycemia in patients with diagnosed diabetes. If symptoms of hypoglycemia occur, 10-20g of glucose should be taken. This will cause an increase in blood glucose levels after approximately 10-20 minutes. To avoid a recurrence of hypoglycemia, consume complex carbohydrates and repeat the blood glucose test after 60 minutes.
In patients treated with intensive insulin therapy, using insulin analogues, or during treatment with a personal insulin pump, in case of hypoglycemia, take 15 g of glucose orally and check blood glucose after 15 minutes. If blood glucose levels remain low, repeat the glucose test and check blood glucose after another 15 minutes (15/15 rule). Note: ¼ sachet is approximately 17 g of glucose.
