Lecithin is a phospholipid compound that builds our body's cell membranes. Its dietary sources include eggs, liver, soy, fish, dairy products, green vegetables, and unrefined rapeseed oil. Supplementation can be beneficial, for example, during periods of intense mental activity, as lecithin supports cognitive abilities and learning processes. It has a beneficial effect on lipid profiles, binding excess cholesterol and accelerating its excretion from the body. It reduces the risk of atherosclerosis and other cardiovascular diseases. The phosphatidylcholine contained in lecithin rebuilds the intestinal mucus layer, which acts as a barrier against the negative effects of bacteria. Lecithin also reduces the deposition of fat and cholesterol in the liver, which supports detoxification, metabolism, and bile production.
